About Marlborough Wine
Located in the north east of New Zealand's South Island, the Marlborough wine region is responsible for producing around three-quarters of all of the country's wine. It is known for its dry climate, with the region experiencing hot sunny days and cooler nights, as well as for its mountainous terrain.
Grapes grown in the region include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. While the latter three are used in the production of sparkling wines, Marlborough's Sauvignon Blanc wine is especially renowned. Indeed, it is said that the area's climate helps the grapes to ripen for longer, resulting in a unique taste and distinctive smell.
