About Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet sauvignon is possibly the world's most famous red wine grape variety and can be found in every major wine producing country across the globe. Originally the product of an accidental crossing of cabernet franc and sauvignon blanc - the popularity of this hardy, thick skinned, easily cultivated red grape soon grew with wine producers everywhere.
Cabernet sauvignon is famous for its use in Bordeaux particularly, where it is blended with merlot to produce some of the finest wines available. More recently however, it has made a name for itself in places like California, New Zealand, Chilé and Australia too, where many popular blended and 100% cabinet sauvignon wines are produced.
Known as a full bodied wine with high tannins, cabernet sauvignon wines are perfect served with food, a good quality Bordeaux will make a wonderful table centrepiece sure to impress your guests at a dinner party. At the Calais wine superstore we have an outstanding selection of Bordeaux at prices to make the treat a little sweeter. Why not try the gold medal winning chateau puy de Guirande bordeaux, or for a real treat the Chateau Picard Saint Estephe which has an £8 a bottle saving on the UK price.
