About Chardonnay

Chardonnay is the most popular white wine variety you will come across, and although Chardonnay was originally grown in the Burgundy region of France, it now makes an appearance in every wine region of the world. Known for its versatility, it can be aged, or consumed immediately, oaked or un-oaked, simple or sublime.

It is also one of the main grape varieties used in the production of champagne and some sparkling wines. Easily grown in every region, but no two places that grow Chardonnay produce the same wine as it is extremely susceptible to terroir and climate. This makes for a vast array of choices to tempt all tastes. Warm climates produce a Chardonnay grape that is ripe and full of tropical flavors, while in cooler climates the grape has flavours of apple as well as earthy fall aromas such as mushrooms and the smell of fallen leaves. Chardonnay lovers will find there is a wine for every season and occasion.

With over oaking now a thing of the past, it is time to rejoice in a good bottle of chardonnay yet again, and we offer a selection not to be sniffed at. Why not try our Casillero del Diablo Chardonnay which has been hailed as "an amazing quality wine" by one of our customers in their review.
