About Italian Wine

Italian wines are simply Bellissimo!

Italy is the only country which produces wine in every area from Puglia to Veneto, Tuscany to Prosecco - and is the largest wine producer in the world, closely followed by France. Italian wines encompass a diverse range of styles - with over 800 wine grape varieties, 20 wine growing regions, and hundreds of years of winemaking history under its belt. Tuscany and Piedmont are Italy's most recognised regions but you will also be familiar with the with the "three Venices" - Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige and Fruili, which round up the dominant producing regions in Italy.

When you think Italian wine there are some firm favourites which spring to mind. At the Calais Wine Superstore we stock everything from the ever popular Pinot Grigio to Chianti, Primitivo and Negroamaro.

If you prefer some fizz then who can forget the world famous Italian sparkling wine - Prosecco. Approximately 150 million bottles of prosecco are produced annually in Italy, and we have a sublime selection at prices which will leave you enjoying your bubbles guilt free.
