About Chilean Wine

Chilean wines are going from strength to strength and so is their popularity due to their reasonable prices yet ever increasingly exceptional quality. Chile is the envy of other wine makers from both the New World and the Old World due to its almost perfect wine making climate. The cooling Pacific Ocean and the Humboldt Current calm the continuous warm weather, yet they have a guaranteed water supply courtesy of the Andes' melted snow. Popular wine regions include Casablanca and Central Valley

Chile has adopted Carmenere, a grape variety once widely grown in Bordeaux but thought to be extinct, but is also known for producing great quality Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Carignan and of course Merlot! Chilean Merlot is popular the world over with customer favourites like Casillero Del Diablo or Isla Negra.

The Calais Wine Superstore we have many favourite big brands, and we are sure you will find a Chilean wine to float your boat, whether it is a favourite from Vina Maipo or Santa Rita, or a lesser known star from Pico Andino. Come give them a try in our temperature controlled tasting room.
