Nestled within the heart of the Eperlecques forest lies the largest Second World War bunker in the north of France.

Built by Nazi Germany under the codename ‘Kraftwerk North West’ - the bunker was originally intended to be a launching base for a V-2 ballistic missile.

The bunker was never used for its original purpose as a result of the repeated bombing by the British and United States which resulted in a fail in its completion.

Since its dysfunction, the bunker has been listed as an ‘ancient memorial’ from 1985 onwards and has been open to the public as an attraction since 1973.
