Lisa McGuigan is daughter of the founder of 'McGuigan Estates' from the Hunter Valley - an area pivotal in Australian winemaking, being one of the first regions planted in the early 19th century.
She set up 'Lisa McGuigan Wines' as an independently owned wine label, since the McGuigan name is now owned by mega-corporation Australian Vintage Ltd, saying, "I don't want to report to a board of directors any more. I've decided to go out on my own".
With energy, creativity and attention to detail, today she is one of the most influential personalities in modern wine production - in 'Wilde Thing' Lisa has blended wines specifically for the UK and Irish markets “...selecting the varietals I most adore from the regions where I know they thrive”.

Named both for Oscar Wilde whom Lisa greatly admires, and the wild yeast used in fermentation, Wilde Thing Chardonnay-Pinot Grigio has aromas of apples and fruity pears - refreshing and with a little more body than the average Pinot Grigio.
Wilde Thing Cabernet-Shiraz offers a mellow blend of blackberry, currant flavours, and herbaceous notes with a hint of spice and vanilla - an ideal accompaniment to robust meat dishes.

Combining her knowledge of marketing and a flair for design with her expertise as a winemaker, Lisa has persevered with the new brand - "I've worked mostly with female winemakers because my demographic is massively female. For each vintage I tweak the label, particularly in the first four years. You never get it right the first time."
