Which Celebrity Chef Loves our New Portuguese Wine?

We are excited about some new Portuguese wines which arrived this week, one of which in particular has made a bit of a name for itself.

When celebrity chef James Martin was presented with the Porta 6 wine on his popular BBC cooking show, he said it was one of the best reds he’d tried in the 10 years he’d worked on the programme. This clip is from Saturday kitchen in 2015.

So you will no doubt be pleased to hear that you can now buy it at the Calais Wine Superstore, and of course this means at unbeatable prices - Just £3.49 a bottle in fact.

Plus as an added bonus, we also have the wine box in stock - the same great wine at even better value - 3 litres for £9.99, the equivalent of £2.50 a bottle.

Porta 6 is a Tinta Roriz, Castelão and Touriga Nacional blend which is from the Vidigal winery near Lisbon. It's just one of the new Portuguese wines we have added to our selection this week.

We have also welcomed the Porta 6 sparkling, and the Porta 6 white - both of which also feature the striking label which depicts a tram winding its way through the tiny streets of Lisbon.  As well as the Julia Florista red & whites, also from the Vidigal winery - which are just £1.99 a bottle.

Portuguese wines have undergone a transformation of late. No longer limited to Port, their unique grape varieties, many of which are not available elsewhere, have gained a reputation of producing quality wines which offer great value.

Wine Spectator magazine  even crowned Portugal as “the most exciting wine place on the planet” in a recent article.

So if you fancy a little taste of Portugal, now is the right time to stock up! You can take a look here for the full collection of  New Portuguese Wines by Vidigal Winery.
