Aiming for the stars!

Congratulations to young local chef Frédéric Pouilly of La Maison du Chef in nearby Ardres.

Last Tuesday in Nice he received Third Place in the Trophy 'Bernard Loiseau', a national competition organised by the Culinary Academy of France. Before a jury of star chefs, Frédéric, aged 24, was required to make a dish consisting of a pair of Mediterranean fish, a sauce, and three toppings for a cake-based dessert of chocolate and ice-cream.

Said Frédéric, "For a first participation in a competition as a professional, I am satisfied with my performance although I dreamed of first place.  I cannot wait to show what I can do in front of other chefs. My ambition remains the same: to become a 'Meilleur Ouvrier de France'." Featured on our 'Eating out in Calais' page, La Maison du Chef is going from strength to strength and well worth a visit.
