Cremant de Bourgogne Blanc de Blancs Caves de Lugny

Cremant is used to describe the quality sparkling wines (outside Champagne) of France and the use of the name means adherence to rules much the same as in Champagne. This is a good example from Burgundy.

Tasting notes

An elegant wine with restrained mineral fruit dry fresh and citrussy with a soft mousse and creamy notes at the finish.

Production notes

Sourced from the Maconnais in southern Burgundy this is made from Chardonnay making it light and elegant. The grapes were whole bunch pressed and the clean juice was fermented in epoxy lined tanks at a cool temperature. The base wine was blended and then bottled with a mixture of yeast and sugar being left to undergo secondary fermentation giving a fizz. After a period of lees ageing the bottle was disgorged removing the yeast deposits and resealed.

Food choice

Delicious chilled as an aperitif and paired with light snacks.

Grape mix

100% Chardonnay
